Mark Stuckel is a Junior at UMSL pursuing a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. He has hopes of being a High School Math Teacher and Varsity Volleyball coach. Stuckel has extensive playing experience at the highest levels as well as coaching experience. He has played club and Varsity Volleyball. Mark played for St. Louis High Performance VBC 141, 162, 172. In each of those seasons, Stuckel’s team qualified for the USAV Junior Olympic tournament. He has learned volleyball under Jay Huelsing, MOBAP coach and state champion at Vianney; Jeff Gabert, Vianney head coach; and Tom Young, player/coach at MOBAP. Mark’s High School career consisted of four years as a Varsity Starter for St. Mary’s under the guidance of John Chittakhone, coach at Harris-Stowe State University. Of the four years of Varsity Volleyball, Mark has won three State Championship titles. He has played middle blocker, libero, outside hitter, and setter. Stuckel’s coaching career has consisted of many teams. He has coached at numerous Parochial Schools in many levels and many sports in both the girls and boys game. Mark coaches Volleyball currently at St. Mary’s in the Spring and Nerinx Hall in the Fall. He coached TESL 171 in the 2009-2010 season. Mark is very excited coaching for TESL and having the opportunity to work closely with Dale Woodson to teach student athletes the game of volleyball as well as values of sportsmanship, work ethic, and the importance of being a well-rounded student and person.
